Gaming is the life blood of youngsters today as they would happily give up food and drink just to get to the next level.I have just recently got in to gaming and quickly am getting addicted to it and can see the attraction it has for players.
I think it is the new literacy tool as now children have a reason to want to learn to read and write so they can play by themselves and improve their gaming skills before they see their opponents next(friends).
Gaming is entertaining and keeps boredom away, but in order to keep the players interest it has to be goal orientated, realistic, achievable, a bit of escapism from real life and most of all a non demanding playing partner. .
Gaming in education
Gaming has a permanent place in everyone's life, particularly children as we are in a technology geared century and every child has a computer and uses it for work and pleasure.
Gameing is exciting and fun and utilises all learning styles such as visual, auditory and kinesthetic and therefore is the best material to utilise to teach children new things.
I think gaming is just as valid a tool for learning as old fashioned styles are, as it equips children for the future and if they are not taught the skills of the language of technology then they will be left behind.
